European Leagues: Pedro Proença (Liga Portugal) named president until 2025

European Leagues' extraordinary general assembly formally appoints Pedro Proença (POR) as the association's new president "until the end of the current mandate (2025)," announced the body representing the interests of Europe's national professional football leagues on 30/11/2023.

"Pedro Proença is the president of Liga Portugal, one of the founding members of the European Leagues. He was first elected as president of Liga Portugal in July 2015, to be then re-elected in June 2019 for a second term. In June 2023 he was unanimously confirmed for a third term, thus becoming the first President of Liga Portugal to be elected for three consecutive terms," explained European Leagues about the former international referee, member of its board of directors since 2015.

The position of president of European Leagues has thus been reintroduced, while a four-member management board (Mathieu Moreuil, Claus Thomsen, Claudius Schäfer and Javier Tebas, later replaced by Luigi De Siervo) was established on 29/03/2021 - theoretically until 2025 - to succeed Lars-Christer Olsson (SWE), who previously…
