Premier League: Everton appeals withdrawal of 10 points for breach of financial regulations

Everton FC is appealing against the penalty imposed by the Premier League on 17/11/2023, namely a withdrawal of 10 points from the 2023-24 standings with immediate effect for breaching the English League's profitability and sustainability rules, announced the club on 01/12/2023. An appeal board must now be appointed by the chairman of the Premier League's independent committee, which heard the Merseyside club from 16 to 20/10/2023 before making its decision and imposing the penalty.

The Premier League, noting that Everton had breached Article E.49 of its regulations at the end of the 2021-22 season, which limits clubs' financial losses over a period of three financial years to £105m (€119.3m), had announced the launch of proceedings on 24/03/2023. Everton's cumulative losses over the period amount to £124.5m (€144.3m), according to the independent commission.
