La Liga: Telefonica acquires the 2015-16 domestic TV rights of Real Sociedad

The Spanish telecom group Telefonica acquired the 2015-16 domestic TV rights of Real Sociedad (Liga BBVA), announced the club on 01/122014. The agreement includes an option for two more seasons.

The domestic TV rights from 2012-2015 of the San Sebastian club are held by the audiovisual group DTS (Canal+ Espana). Real Sociedad earned €23m of audiovisual revenues in 2012-13, and nearly €25m in 2013-14.

The home games of the Basque club in La Liga (or Liga Adelante or if the club is relegated at the end of the 2014-15 season) and in the 2015-16 Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) will be broadcast on Movistar Futbol, the thematic sports channel launched in September 2014 on the pay-TV platform Movistar TV.
