Canal+: launch of a new digital platform in the Netherlands on 29/01/2024

"Following its successful roll-out in Austria (2022), the Czech Republic and Slovakia (2023), the Canal+ Group is taking a new step in its European expansion and launching in the Netherlands with a unique offering featuring an unrivalled catalogue of films and series," announced the pay and free-TV group on 04/12/2023.

"The offer is already distributed in the Netherlands via its subsidiary M7 and will come under the Canal+ umbrella from 29/01/2024. From that date, Canal+ will offer a complete package combining live TV and streaming, and will bring together within a single platform linear TV channels (including ESPN, which holds the Eredivisie broadcasting rights until 2030) and a rich catalogue of films and series of all genres, with a strong European DNA," explained the subsidiary of Vivendi (Bolloré).

Canal+ has also signed a distribution agreement with Dutch telecoms operator VodafoneZiggo to "offer its services to more than three million potential customers in the Netherlands."
