EPCR: European Cups to begin on 08/12/2023 with a format change & the same broadcasters in France

The European Rugby Cups organised by European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) will once again be played in a multi-pool format for the 2023-24 season, which kicks off on Friday 08/12/2023. The European competitions will thus return to their pre-pandemic format (four groups of six teams for the Investec Champions Cup), which was changed from 2020-21 to a two-group format (12 clubs per group for the Champions Cup).

The 24 Investec Champions Cup clubs are divided into four pools of six, while the 18 Challenge Cup clubs are divided into three pools of six. Each club will face four different non-league opponents, home and away, during the group stage. At the end of the group stage of each of the two competitions, the four highest-ranked clubs in each pool will qualify for the Round of 16. The clubs that finish fifth in each Challenge Cup group will also qualify for the Round of 16.
