"I know Prince Ali well. He has all the credibility required to hold high office," stated Michel Platini, president of UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), on 06/01/2015, after the announcement, on the same day, of the candidacy of the Jordanian Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein for the presidency of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association).

"We now await his proposals and his programme for the future of football," added Michel Platini.

  • Michel Platini announced that he would not run for the presidency of FIFA in 2015 on 28/08/2014.
    • "I thought about it for a long time, but I've never managed to convince myself that I had to go to FIFA. It's as simple as that," he explained.
    • Michel Platini is the person standing for the presidency of UEFA, as of the deadline of 24/12/2014, three months before the elective congress held in Vienna (AUT) on 24/03/2015.
