2023-24 Champions League: “The ban on supporters travelling to Lens is not justified” (Sevilla FC)

"Sevilla FC (LALIGA EA Sports) is opposed to the ban on its supporters travelling to Lens (Pas-de-Calais) as it believes that it is detrimental to them in particular, as well as to football in general, because of a disproportionate measure that does not appear to be justified," said the Spanish club on 10/12/2023.

Sevilla FC was reacting to the announcement by Gérald Darmanin, the French Minister of the Interior and Overseas Territories, on the same day, that the club's supporters would be banned from travelling to the match against RC Lens (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), for Matchday 6 of the 2023-24 Champions League group stage (Group B) at Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Tuesday 12/12/2023.

The Andalusian club has also stated that it "have not received any official communication from either the French authorities or UEFA supporting such a decision," with two days to go before the match.
