NFL: Facebook is testing the broadcasting of sponsored clips of football games

The social network Facebook began testing the broadcasting of sponsored videos on the official page of the NFL (National Football League) on 30/12/2014. The excerpts, typically a highlights clip of about 30 seconds, are accompanied by an advertisement of 10 seconds for the American telecom operator Verizon Wireless, along with a prolonged banner of the company along the bottom of the video. Verizon Wireless is an official partner of the NFL.

“This is a small video sponsorship test, and we will be evaluating how people, publishers, and marketers respond to this kind of co-branded video content on Facebook,” stated the social network in the US business daily The Wall Street Journal on 23/12/2014. The advertising revenue generated will be shared between Facebook and the NFL.

The details of the partnership between the social network and American football league were not disclosed.
