LALIGA: sole candidate, Javier Tebas definitively confirmed as president by the electoral commission

"The Electoral Commission of the National Professional Football League (LALIGA), in accordance with the provisions of the Articles of Association and the General Regulations of LALIGA, has agreed to the definitive declaration of Mr. Javier Tebas Medrano as president of the National Professional Football League for a period of four years," announced the Spanish body on the evening of 12/12/2023.

"This decision was made without the need to hold an Extraordinary General Assembly, as there was only one valid candidate for the presidency of LALIGA," added the Spanish professional league.

Javier Tebas had submitted his resignation as LALIGA president on 22/11/2023, one month before the end of his term of office, which was due to expire on 23/12/2023, while immediately declaring his intention to regain the presidency quickly through early elections in December 2023 (originally scheduled for 2024). First elected in 2013, he will therefore serve a fourth term, which will take him to the end of 2027.
