European football: "Our priority is to change the decision-making process" (William Martucci, UEC)

"Our priority is to change the decision-making process in European football. This will involve formal recognition of the UEC and its integration into the various committees (particularly at UEFA), just like the European Club Association at present. Our discussions with the European Commission and the European Parliament are helping us to make progress in this regard," said William Martucci, director of operations at the Union of European Clubs (UEC), to News Tank, on 08/12/2023.

The Frenchman discusses the creation of the UEC, a new body which aspires to represent European professional clubs and claims to take a different approach to that of the ECA. This new body has more than 150 members since its official launch in April 2023.

"If the ECA's role is to act in the interests of the top clubs, in other words the clubs that regularly compete in the European Cups and are the dominant force in their domestic leagues, then it is perfectly fulfilled.
