Wimbledon: Amazon acquires the exclusive broadcasting rights in Germany and Austria (2024-2027)

Amazon has acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights, in Germany and Austria, to the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament over the 2024-2027 period, announced the American e-commerce group on 14/12/2023.

Subscribers to the Prime Video platform will be able to watch all the tournament's matches at no extra cost. Prime Video is available via a €8.99 monthly subscription or a €89.9 annual subscription in Germany and Austria. This is the first time that Amazon has acquired the TV rights to the tournament.

Sky Deutschland previously held the media rights to Wimbledon in these territories from 2007. The pay-TV operator had last extended these rights on 07/07/2022.

The media and entertainment conglomerate Warner Bros. Discovery, parent company of pay-TV group Eurosport, holds the broadcasting rights, in Germany, to the Roland-Garros (2022-2026) and Australian Open (until 2031) Grand Slam tournaments, while the streaming platform sportdeutschland.tv (owned by the German National Olympic Committee) holds those of the US Open (2023-2027).
