FIFA: format confirmed for the new "Mundial de Clubes" (in the USA from 15/06 to 13/07/2025)

The first 32-team FIFA Club World Cup will take place in the United States from 15/06 to 13/07/2025, and the competition will be officially known as the "Mundial de Clubes FIFA", according to the International Federation, whose Council met in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) on 17/12/2023 in conjunction with the semi-finals of the 2023 Club World Cup (seven-team format).

At the meeting, the FIFA Council confirmed the format of the new competition, in particular the ranking method that will be used to select the clubs from the various confederations. 19 of the 32 participating clubs have already been decided, including eight of the 12 European clubs (see below).

"The format of the competition was confirmed as follows:
• A group stage composed of eight groups of four teams per group playing in a single-game round-robin format
• The top two teams per group progressing to the Round of 16
• A direct single-match knockout stage from the Round of 16 to the final
• No third-place play-off."
