Spain: €407,000 collected during "Champions for Life" charity match organised by the League

The second annual "Champions for Life" charity match, organised by the LFP (Spanish Professional Football League), in partnership with UNICEF, has raised €407,000, announced the Spanish professional league on 29/12/2014.

The match was played in front of 24,642 spectators at the Vicente Calderon Stadium in Madrid on 29/12/2014. The funds are intended for the fight against Ebola, and to fund social projects by Spanish clubs (including Levante UD, Real Madrid CF, CA Osasuna and Atlético Madrid) related to children's programmes.

  • The first edition of "Champions for Life", played at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid on 30/12/2013, raised €550,000.
    • The money was used to help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and to fund social projects by Spanish clubs.

66 players from the Spanish first and second divisions to be available for the match

  • The match is between two teams of players from Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante (second division): the East team against the West team.
