Media: RTL Group to sell RTL Nederland to DPG Media for €1.1bn

The Belgian press and media group DPG Media will acquire the private Dutch free-TV group RTL Nederland from RTL Group, announced the latter on 15/12/2023.

The value of the acquisition is €1.1 bn. "Subject to regulatory approvals and the consultation process with the respective works councils, the all-cash transaction is expected to close around mid-2024," said RTL Group.

RTL Group has already sold its subsidiary RTL Belgium to DPG Media, allied to the Rossel group, for €154m on 31/03/2022 (50% owned by the two groups), as well as its subsidiary RTL Croatia to Central European Media Enterprises (CME, owned by the Czech investment group PPF) for €41m on 01/06/2022.

RTL holds the free-to-air broadcasting rights for the Champions League and Europa League in the Netherlands for the 2021-2024 cycle.
