Ligue 1: Olympique Lyonnais to assume the new 5.5% VAT into the existing price of its tickets

"Following a change in the law to 01/01/2015, entrance fees to sporting events (in France) will be subject to VAT (Value Added Tax) at the reduced rate of 5.5%. Olympique Lyonnais take note of this change and informs its supporters that from the beginning of 2015, the VAT will be included in the price quoted by the ticket for future fixtures, "announced Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1), on 29/12/2014.

All sporting events (in France) are (now) subject to VAT at the specialised reduced rate of 5.5% since 01/01/2015 (the standard VAT rate in France is 20%). The new specialised VAT measure follows (and replaces) the abolition of the entertainment tax in France, which was enforced regionally by city councils, and which only affected eight clubs in Ligue 1 (listed below).

"The ticket holders will not be affected by the (5.5% VAT) measure. Olympique Lyonnais will assume the impact of VAT into the tickets," stated the club on 29/12/2014.
