Germany: Sky/RTL sublicensing agreement for several competitions including F1 & the Premier League

The private free-TV group RTL Deutschland has entered into a sublicensing agreement with the pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland for a number of competitions in Germany over the 2024-2025 cycle, it announced on 19/12/2023.

As part of the agreement, RTL will broadcast seven Formula 1 races, including the first of the season each year, three Bundesliga 2 multiplexes per season and one Premier League game per matchday on its RTL+ platform. Under the same agreement, Sky acquires the rights to broadcast two Europa League or Europa Conference League matches per matchday from RTL.

Sky Deutschland holds the broadcasting rights in Germany for Formula 1 until 2027, for the 2.Bundesliga (in its entirety) for the 2021-2025 cycle and for the Premier League (in its entirety and exclusively) for 2022-2025. For its part, RTL holds the full media rights to the Europa League and Europa Conference League over the 2021-2024 and 2024-2027 cycles for the same territory.
