Facebook: Real Madrid gain the most followers in 2014 (33 million), Barcelona stills lead overall

Real Madrid CF (Liga BBVA) was the European club that added the most Facebook followers in 2014, with 33,030,000 new additions, according to figures compiled by News Tank on 07/01/2014. FC Barcelona (Liga BBVA) added 30,481,000 new followers in 2014, while Manchester United FC (Barclays Premier League) round out the podium with 24,871,000 new Facebook followers.

FC Bayern München (Bundesliga) added 14,823,000 new followers in 2014, and Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1) 9,893,000 -- the biggest gains in Germany and France, respectively, in 2014.

In terms of the number of overall Facebook followers, the most followed club remains FC Barcelona with 81.1 million fans, ahead of Real Madrid, with 80.3 million fans, and Manchester United with 63.6 million. The Premier League remains the most followed championship with 195 million cumulative fans following the clubs of the league.
