Tennis: a record €53.3m in prize money for the Australian Open in 2024 (+13% versus 2023)

The prize money for the 2024 edition of the Australian Open Tennis Championships (Grand Slam) has reached a record AU$86.5m (€53.3m as at 29/12/2023), AU$10m more than in 2023 (+13%, but only +6.6% after conversion into euros), announced organiser Tennis Australia on 29/12/2023. The 2024 edition of the Australian Open will be held at Melbourne Park from 14 to 28/01/2024.

The prize money is 38.4% higher than in 2019 (AU$62.5m/€39.3m) and has more than quadrupled since 2003 (AU$18.18m or €9.9m).

The winners of the men's and women's singles will each take home AU$3.15m (€1.94m), up 5.9% on the AU$2.975m (€1.94m on 29/01/2023, the date of the men's final) awarded to each winner in 2023 (Serbia's Novak Djokovic and Belarus' Aryna Sabalenka).

Singles finalists will earn AU$1.725m (€1.06m, +6.1%), while doubles winners (men and women) will receive AU$730,000 (€450,000, +5%). The amount awarded to players eliminated in the first round of singles is 20% higher than in 2023, at AU$120,000 (€73,978).
