"As far as Italian regulations are concerned, we are not yet obliged to publish a sustainability report. It will be compulsory from the 2026-27 season, but we would like to start publishing such a document from the start of the previous season, in 2025-26. It will take almost a year to draw up the first report, because we need to define the whole structure - it's a big project," said Clara Simonini, Football and Social Responsibility Officer at Bologna FC 1909 (Serie A TIM), to News Tank Football on 23/12/2023.

"We can't create a carbon-neutral stadium, but we want to considerably reduce the impact of our matches with the new Bologna stadium. To do this, we want to have a system for monitoring energy consumption, produce energy from renewable sources, reduce our CO2 emissions by using a heat pump, have a way of quantifying and monitoring waste collection, have seats made from recycled plastic, and collect rainwater via a tank dedicated to sanitary facilities and irrigation of the pitch," added Simonini.
