Training: SL Benfica's academy, the most profitable in the world (€516m) since 2014 (CIES)

With €516m received from the sale of 30 players from its academy, SL Benfica (Liga Portugal Betclic) is the club that has generated the most revenue from the sale of players from its academy since 2014, according to the CIES Football Observatory's "weekly post" published on 10/01/2024.

The Portuguese club is ahead of AFC Ajax (Eredivisie), which sold 36 players from its youth academy for €376m over the same period, and Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), with 32 players sold for a total of €370m.

Real Madrid CF, in 4^th place (28 players/€364m), are the leading LALIGA EA Sports club in the rankings, while Chelsea FC, in 5^th place, are the most successful Premier League representatives (28 players/€347m). The highest-ranking Serie A TIM club is Atalanta BC, in 10^th place (34 players/€250m), while Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Bundesliga) are in 17^th place (11 players/€214m).

• Academy-trained players are "players who spent at least three seasons there between the ages of 15 and 21" according to the CIES.
