Villarreal CF: a turnover of €111.6m (-37.4%) & net profit of €3.6m in 2022-23

Villarreal CF (LALIGA EA Sports) posted a turnover of €111.6m for the financial year 2022-23 (from 01/07/2022 to 30/06/2023), down 37.4% compared to 2021-22 (€178.1m), according to the club's accounts published on its website in January 2024.

The sharp drop in turnover is largely explained by the reduction in competition-related revenues. These revenues, which include UEFA grants linked to the club's European campaign, totalled €14.9m in 2022-23, compared with €84.9m the previous year. In 2021-22, the Spanish club reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, compared with just the Round of 16 of the Europa Conference League in 2022-23.

The wage bill stood at €110m at the end of the 2022-23 financial year, compared with €112m a year earlier. The Spanish club's net profit also improved, rising from a loss of €0.7m in 2021-22 to a profit of €3.6m in 2022-23.
