Common Goal: "Donating 1% of revenues, is a box to tick to show commitment" (T. Burgaud)

"The commitment that Common Goal is proposing, i.e. to donate 1% of revenues, is above all a box to tick to enter the project, to show that we want to commit. The 1% can be adjusted according to the person or entity. 1% of gross revenue, 1% of merchandising revenue, 1% of ticket sales, etc.," said Théo Burgaud, chief operating officer of the NGO Common Goal, to News Tank Football on 15/01/2024.

"Our goal is non-profit, and the money we raise - both private and public, via national or European funding programs, for example - is used to finance the various projects and cover our costs. Thus funding amounted to nearly €10m in the last fiscal year. We implement monitoring and evaluation models to measure the direct and indirect impact of these programmes. About 1.7 million people were directly affected in 2022, thanks to the strength of a network of more than 20,000 people on the ground," added Burgaud.

"There is a growing demand from fans for more socially and ecologically responsible practices in sports. Clubs, sponsors, and football leagues will have to adapt to these new expectations…
