ExclusiveBroadcasting, events, social media: the LFP presents its international development strategy

• 578 million cumulative viewers for the 2022-23 Ligue 1 Uber Eats season;
• 7.5% average annual audience growth rate since the 2018-19 season;
• 40 million fans on social media, 84% of them outside France;
• 37 events organised abroad since September 2020, in addition to the 26 planned for the 2023-24 season.

These are just some of the key figures illustrating how the Ligue de Football Professionnel and its clubs are expanding abroad.

"The international audience has grown every year for the last five years. During the 2022-23 season, we recorded five of the 10 best international audiences ever. There is growth in all territories," said David Labrune, director of international media rights at the LFP, to News Tank Football on 10/01/2024.

In addition to broadcasting Ligue 1 Uber Eats matches, the LFP's development strategy in the various territories where rights have been acquired also involves developing new formats, such as "Trophée des Académies", a reality TV series (eight 40-minute episodes) developed for Canal+ Afrique for sub-Saharan Africa and broadcast on the Canal+ Sport 1…
