Women's football: "D1 Arkema audiences are up 25% on last year at mid-season" (J-M. Aulas)

"We did a deal with Canal+ that gave us the chance to get better TV coverage. TV audiences (for the D1 Arkema) are climbing like never before. We're up 25% on last year at mid-season. We're gradually going to solve the problem of attendance in the stadiums, and a number of ideas are under way, such as finding a Sunday afternoon slot. But right now, we really want to be among the top two professional leagues alongside the English, and that means making a number of compromises," said Jean-Michel Aulas, vice-president of the Fédération Française de Football, in an interview with L'Équipe on 19/01/2024.

The pay and free-TV television group Canal+ extended its D1 Arkema broadcasting rights in France with the FFF for six seasons over the 2023-2029 cycle, on 13/06/2023. The top two fixtures of each matchday are broadcast live on the Canal+ Foot pay-TV channel on Fridays and Sundays at 21:00 CET.
