AS Monaco FC: Dmitry Rybolovlev to "explore strategic alternatives" for the club's shareholding

"Following receipt of an unsolicited interest, AS Monaco's (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) majority shareholder decided to initiate a procedure to explore strategic alternatives for its stake in the club. No guarantee has been given that a transaction involving the club will be concluded at the end of this strategic review, and, for the time being, we do not intend to make any further comments on this subject," said a spokesperson for Dmitry Rybolovlev, owner and president of the club, on 22/01/2024.

This statement comes after the publication of an article in the French daily Les Echos on 21/01/2024, according to which the Russian businessman had received two expressions of interest from American investors in 2023. These "preliminary" proposals were high enough to convince Dmitry Rybolovlev to sound out the market. The Russian billionaire became 66.6% owner of AS Monaco in December 2011, with the Principality of Monaco holding the remainder of the club's capital.
