"It is easier to get 50 votes in the election, which is by secret ballot, than to obtain the 5 official letters of support needed from national federations to run for the presidency of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association)," said Jerome Champagne, FIFA presidential candidate, to News Tank on 13/01/2015.

"But I am not worried," said Jerome Champagne. "I am optimistic of the action. But this does not overshadow the reality of the situation." The deadline for submission of applications is 29/01/2015, four months before the FIFA Annual Congress in Zurich (SUI) on 29/05/2015. The FIFA president is elected by the Congress, which brings together all 209 member federations, and each federation has one vote.
