United States: name change to WBD Sports (Warner Bros. Discovery) which becomes TNT Sports

WBD Sports (formerly Turner Sport), a US pay-TV group owned by media and entertainment conglomerate Warner Bros. Discovery, has changed its name to TNT Sports in the USA, with immediate effect from January 2024.

The name change comes after pay-TV bouquet BT Sport also became TNT Sports in the UK and Ireland on 18/07/2023. Warner Bros. Discovery and BT Group had previously announced this change on 21/02/2023. It took place in the context of the creation of a BT Sport - Eurosport UK joint venture in these territories, the transaction for which was officially finalised on 01/09/2022.

Warner Bros. Discovery, which also owns the pay-TV group Eurosport and the streaming platform Max, holds broadcasting rights in the United States for the NBA (until 2025), the NHL (since 2021) and MLB (since 2007).
