Italy: socio-economic impact of football estimated at €4.53bn (FIGC Integrated Report 2022)

• 4.6 million Italians play football
• 1.4 million FIGC members, including 1 million players (up 210,000 in one year; back to pre-Covid levels)
• 500,000 official matches organised during the year on 13,000 pitches
• a socio-economic impact (economy, society, health) estimated at €4.53bn
• 57% of the Italian population claim to be interested in football (almost 34 million people)
• 50 football matches (47 of which were played by the Italian national team), among the 50 most watched programmes in the history of Italian television

These are just some of the figures contained in the "Integrated Report 2022" published by the Italian Football Federation on 18/01/2024.
