Rugby: a documentary on the referees at the 2023 World Cup broadcast on Rugbypass TV

World Rugby is broadcasting a documentary film called "Whistleblowers" dedicated to the Rugby World Cup 2023 referees on its free OTT platform RugbyPass TV, in order to provide "a unique insight into the toughest job in sport," announced the body on 25/01/2024. The film will be available on 01/02/2024.

"The documentary follows the match officials and their families as they prepare for the biggest event in the men's test match arena, following their seven-week Rugby World Cup journey," said World Rugby. Interviews, access to referee team meetings and behind-the-scenes pre- and post-match footage are among the film's features.

"Whistleblowers" also presents the daily lives of the referees at the competition: physical and mental preparation, performance analysis, relationships between referees, relationships with teams and the impact of online hate on their lives and families.

RugbyPass TV, which has two million users, recorded 3.3 million views, including 700,000 live views during the Rugby World Cup 2023, according to figures released by World Rugby in November 2023. RugbyPass TV…
