Paris 2024: "Broadcast technologies can help give us a reduced footprint" (Y. Exarchos, OBS)

"Some 11,000 hours of content are planned for Paris 2024. That is more than the hours of a year. Broadcast technologies can significantly help us with efficiencies, which is important because it means a reduced footprint. This is the trend we are most interested in," said Yiannis Exarchos, CEO of Olympic Broadcasting Services (an IOC subsidiary in charge of the production of TV images of the Games), on 24/01/2024.

At the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon (KOR) from 19/01 to 01/02/2024, OBS is currently testing a number of innovations with a view to the Paris 2024 Games. These include:

• The implementation of a "virtual broadcast technology stack that mirrors the functions of a traditional production van is being tested out with Intel (electronics company and IOC Top partner). Using software, servers and cloud technology instead of physical broadcast equipment" and "enables remote production" will be used for judo, wrestling, tennis and shooting;
