FIFA World Cup 2026: opening match in Mexico (MEX), final in New York New Jersey (USA) on 19/07/2026

The FIFA World Cup 2026 final will take place on 19/07/2026 in "New York New Jersey" (in the current MetLife Stadium, 82,500 capacity), announced Gianni Infantino, president of the International federation, from Miami (Florida, USA) on 04/02/2024. On the same day, FIFA unveiled the full schedule for the competition: 104 matches in 16 stadiums across three countries for the 23^rd edition of the World Cup, which will bring together 48 teams for the first time.

The opening match will be held on 11/06/2026 in Mexico, at the Estadio Azteca (83,000 capacity) in Mexico City, followed the next day by the first match of the World Cup in the United States, in Los Angeles (California), and by the very first match in the history of the event in Canada, in Toronto.

In total, the United States will host 78 matches (including 100% of the matches from the quarter-finals onwards) in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas (the only city to host nine matches), Kansas City, Atlanta, Miami, Boston, Philadelphia and New York New Jersey.
