Viaplay: Canal+ Group increases its stake in the Swedish group's capital from 12 to 29.33%

Canal+ Group has increased its stake in the Swedish audiovisual group Viaplay from 12% to 29.33%, announced the French pay and free-TV group on 09/02/2024. Canal+ acquired 12% of Viaplay on 20/07/2023.

This increase is part of the SEK 4bn (€354m) recapitalisation plan initiated by Viaplay on 01/12/2023 and finalised on 09/02/2024. The Swedish audiovisual group posted a net loss of SEK693m (€61m) for the third quarter of its 2023 financial year.

The Czech investment group PPF has also increased its stake in Viaplay from 9.95% to 29.29%, again as part of the Swedish group's recapitalisation plan, the latter confirmed on 09/02/2024.
