The direct and indirect economic impact of the Premier League and its clubs on the UK economy amounts to £8bn (€9.2bn as at 30/06/2022) during the 2021-22 season, according to the UK branch of the audit and consultancy firm EY (Ernst & Young) in its report on the "Economic and Social Impact" of the Premier League, relayed by the League on 08/02/2024. This figure represents an increase of more than £400m on EY's previous estimate, which related to the 2019-20 season (£7.6bn).

Of this total, tax revenues generated amount to £4.2bn (€4.8bn at 30/06/2022), including £1.7bn (€1.9bn) in direct contributions from players playing in the English league in 2021-22. These figures are also up on the 2019-20 season (£3.6bn in tax revenue, including £1.4bn from players).
