AJ Auxerre: special shirts worn on 10/02/2024 to celebrate Chinese New Year

The players of AJ Auxerre (Ligue 2 BKT) wore special shirts to celebrate the Chinese New Year (entry into the Year of the Wooden Dragon on 10/02/2024) when they played host to Angers SCO (1-0, Matchday 24) at the Stade de l'Abbé-Deschamps (Auxerre, Yonne) on Saturday 10/02/2024.

Each shirt was flocked with the name of the player wearing it written in Mandarin, while the front was decorated with a patch representing a dragon. This tradition, "established several years ago, is a way of celebrating the strong links between the club and the country of its owner, James Zhou".

As part of this operation, the 12 shirts worn by the players were auctioned on the Matchwornshirt platform (at prices ranging from €206 to €375), with the proceeds going to the "Des Petits Pas pour Léonie" charity, which "raises funds to finance care or equipment to help children with multiple disabilities, including Léonie, a six-year-old from Icaun and a big AJA fan".
