"I am convinced that goal-line technology is inevitable in our league (Serie A TIM) from 2015-16," said Carlo Tavecchio, president of the FIGC (Federazione Italiana Giuoco di Calcio, the Italian Football Federation) after the meeting of the working group on this subject on 14/01/2015.

The Federal Council of the FIGC had established this working group to study the technical details of the installation of goal-line technology on 17/12/2014.

  • "For now, we are launching a process to implement the goal-line technology. In the course of the season which ends on 30/06/2015, we will decide whether to maintain the additional (2 penalty area) referees, given our economic means," said Carlo Tavecchio on 17/12/2014.
  • "We have planned a reduction of 8% in referee costs, or €4m (less) of the current €50m," said the president of the Italian Federation.
