United States/NFL: Amazon exclusive broadcaster of a playoff game during the 2024-25 season (press)

American e-commerce group Amazon has acquired the exclusive US broadcasting rights to an NFL play-off game for its Prime Video platform during the 2024-25 season, according to several US media on 09/02/2024.

Amazon is said to have positioned itself to acquire these rights after achieving a number of audience targets as part of its agreement with the NFL to broadcast Thursday Night Football (TNF), according to press reports. TNF attracted an average of 11.86 million viewers on Prime Video over the entire NFL 2023 regular season in the United States, representing a 24% increase in audience compared with the previous season, according to data from the American institute Nielsen.

American media and entertainment conglomerate NBCUniversal acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights to a playoff game for the 2023-24 season, for its Peacock OTT platform, as part of a one-year contract with the NFL on 15/05/2023.
