The American conglomerate Paramount Global, owner of the CBS audiovisual group and the Paramount+ streaming platform, is making "hundreds of employees" redundant, according to Bob Bakish, CEO of the group, in an internal letter sent to employees on 13/02/2024.

Around 800 employees will be affected, representing 3% of Paramount Global's total workforce, according to several US media reports. "These adjustments will help enable us to build on our momentum and execute our strategic vision for the year ahead," explained Bob Bakish. Bakish had already announced in a previous internal letter that Paramount Global would be reducing its global workforce as part of its "revenue growth strategy" on 25/01/2024.

Paramount Global holds the English-language broadcasting rights in the United States for the men's European Club Cups (Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League) until 2030, the Serie A TIM (2021-2024) and the NFL (2023-2023).
