Yu Sasamoto has been appointed CEO of the OTT platform DAZN in Japan and Asia from February 2024, announced the streaming service on 15/02/2024.

"With the recent launch of a free tier at DAZN, Mr Sasamoto will both cement DAZN's position in Japan and lead its corporate development in the wider Asia Pacific region. He will also take on responsibility for DAZN Taiwan. Most notably, Mr Sasamoto ran Twitter in Japan and Asia Pacific (APAC), where he oversaw a period of double-digit revenue growth, reporting into Elon Musk (CEO of X, formerly Twitter)," said the platform.

DAZN notably holds the broadcasting rights, in Japan, to the top two Japanese football divisions (Meiji Yasuda J1 League and Meiji Yasuda J2 League, in their entirety, until 2033), LALIGA EA Sports (in its entirety, 2023-2028), Ligue 1 Uber Eats (in its entirety and exclusively, from 2022-23) and Formula 1 (until 2025).
