City Football Group: strategic partnership with Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir (Süper Lig)

City Football Group and Turkish club İstanbul Başakşehir (Süper Lig) have entered into a strategic partnership, announced both parties on 18/02/2024.

The collaboration, which does not involve the football investment company taking a stake in the Turkish club founded in 2014, includes "long-term football strategy, recruitment, scouting and coaching methodology and sustainability." In return, the agreement "will help CFG grow knowledge and develop relationships in Turkey."

City Football Group is a majority shareholder in five European clubs: Manchester City FC (Premier League), Girona FC (LALIGA EA Sports), Lommel SK (Belgian D2), Palermo FC (Serie BKT) and Espérance Sportive Troyes Aube Champagne (Ligue 1 Uber Eats). Elsewhere, it also owns New York City FC (MLS), Melbourne City FC (A-League), Sichuan Jiuniu FC (Chinese D3) and Mumbai City FC (ISL), as well as minority stakes in Yokohama F. Marinos (J.League) and Club Atletico Torque (Uruguayan D1). In December 2022, CFG also acquired a majority stake in Brazilian club Esporte Clube Bahia (1^st division).
