UEFA: €8.4bn in projected commercial revenue from clubs in 2023, 30% higher than before the pandemic

The projected commercial revenues of the clubs in the main European top flight leagues for the 2023 financial year (2022-23 season) amount to a cumulative €8.4bn, an increase of 30% compared to the last pre-pandemic financial year (2018-19), according to UEFA in its annual report "The European Club Finance and Investment Landscape" published on 14/02/2024.

These figures are based on the commercial revenues of those clubs that have submitted advance reports to UEFA. UEFA also expects the amount of commercial revenue generated by its clubs to exceed that from the marketing of TV rights for the first time at the end of the 2023 financial year.

During the 2022 financial year (2021-22 season), for which all clubs have submitted a financial report, the clubs' cumulative commercial revenues amounted to €7.8bn, an increase of 14% compared to the 2021 financial year (€6.6bn). Their sponsorship revenue increased by 8%, while other sources of commercial revenue (notably merchandising) rose by 27%.
