FIFA: David Ginola announces his candidacy for president live on a sports betting site

David Ginola, a former French international, and currently a presenter and consultant on Canal+, announced his intention to run for the presidency of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), at a press conference in London (ENG) and broadcast on the website of the Irish betting operator Paddy Power on 16/01/2015.

The deadline for applications to be filed is 29/01/2015, four months to the day before the election to be held during the FIFA Congress in Zurich (SUI) on 29/05/2015. Applicants must be officially supported by at least five of the 209 national federations affiliated to FIFA, and prove that he or she has been active as a player or official in football for at least two of the last five years (see rules below).
