Canal+ has renewed its rights to broadcast the UEFA Champions League in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa for the 2024-2027 cycle, announced the pay and free-TV group on 20/02/2024.

Canal+ will have exclusive rights to broadcast the Wednesday night fixture, as well as the final and the UEFA Super Cup. The group currently holds the full French-language TV rights to the competition for the 2021-2024 cycle.

Togolese pay and free-TV group New World TV has also acquired the French and local language broadcasting rights to the "majority of matches" in the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Europa Conference League and Youth League in sub-Saharan Africa for the same period, it said on the same day.

"New World TV will be able to broadcast more than 525 live matches each season from 2024-25 to 2026-27 from the four competitions, representing more than 96% of UEFA club competition matches. The group will also explore options to work closely with national broadcasters in these 26 territories to maximise the media exposure of these competitions," said New World TV.
