Los Angeles 2028: the "PlayLA" programme has helped over 500,000 children play more sports

Since 2018, more than 500,000 children have been able to take part in Olympic and Paralympic sports throughout Los Angeles (California, USA) thanks to the "PlayLA" programme funded by the International Olympic Committee and the Los Angeles 2028 Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, according to the IOC on 19/02/2024.

PlayLA, which costs just $10 (€9.20) per participant, with exemptions for the most disadvantaged families, offers "affordable and accessible sport to young people of all abilities. Over 176,000 participants enrolled for the 2022-2023 programme, marking an impressive increase from the previous year. The programme includes signature programmes such as judo, skateboarding, surfing, para surfing and blind soccer," added the IOC.
