United States: antitrust lawsuit filed by Fubo (OTT) against the ESPN/Fox/Warner platform project

The US streaming service Fubo is taking legal action against pay-TV group ESPN (The Walt Disney Company), US free-to-air pay-TV group Fox and media and entertainment conglomerate Warner Bros. Discovery regarding their plans to create a joint streaming platform in the United States, it announced on 20/02/2024.

"The vertically-integrated media companies have engaged in a years-long campaign to block Fubo's innovative sports-first streaming business resulting in significant harm to both Fubo and consumers. The complaint alleges that the forthcoming launch of a sports-streaming joint venture steals Fubo's playbook and is the latest example of this campaign. Fubo further alleges that the recently announced joint venture is simply the latest coordinated step in the defendants' campaign to eliminate competition in the sports-first streaming market and capture this market for themselves," explained the OTT platform.
