Paris 2024: "Opening ceremony, the largest sporting event production ever made" (Y. Exarchos, OBS)

"An element of the creative coverage of the opening ceremony will be to film from the water and not just from the bank. We have embraced the idea of providing coverage within the river to make it as immersive as possible. We will have helicopters, several drones and cable cameras, and over 110 cameras. It is by far the largest production that we have ever made and that has ever been made for any sporting event," said Yiannis Exarchos, CEO of Olympic Broadcasting Services (the IOC subsidiary responsible for producing TV footage of the Games), to News Tank, on 19/02/2024.

The Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is scheduled for Friday 26/07/2024 on the Seine in the heart of Paris. All the Olympic delegations (10,000 athletes) will travel six kilometres from east to west on boats, from the Pont d'Austerlitz to the Pont d'Iéna, level with the Eiffel Tower. "The opening ceremony is also ambitious and challenging. Any producer would dream of tackling it. This will probably be the largest and most complex opening ceremony in the history of the Olympics," said Yiannis Exarchos.
