Paris Saint-Germain: first sports club to become a "validator" of a blockchain with Chiliz

Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) has become the "official validator" of the blockchain platform ChiliZ, which notably hosts the fan tokens published by Socios.com, announced the brand on 22/02/2024. PSG is the "first sports club to participate in such a blockchain operation."

"Validators on the Chiliz Chain play a crucial role in maintaining the network's integrity, security, and operations. As participants in the blockchain's consensus mechanism, they verify transactions, authorize smart contracts, and ensure the smooth operation of the chain. This is a new step in the Parisian club's Web3 strategy, which in 2018 became the first to partner with Socios.com to launch its own fan tokens. Paris Saint-Germain is also the first club to have a dedicated manager in the person of Pär Helgosson, who has been head of Web3 and metaverse at the club since February 2023.
