UEFA European Cups: 48 clubs in the Round of 16 before the new format comes into force

The Round of 16 of the 2023-24 Champions League began on Tuesday 13/02/2024, while the draws for the same round in the Europa League and Europa Conference League took place on 23/02/2024.

48 clubs, including seven from the Serie A TIM, six from the Premier League, five from the Bundesliga and LALIGA EA Sports and three from the Ligue 1 Uber Eats, are involved in the knockout stages of the final season in the current UEFA club competition format. The sporting performances of these clubs will have an impact on the European confederation's new format, as the two countries with the best UEFA coefficient ranking in 2023-24 will be awarded two additional places ("performance spots") in the 2024-25 Champions League.

Apart from these two places, which will be awarded from one season to the next on the basis of each country's performance, the European cups will undergo major changes from 2024-25 onwards, starting with the number of participating clubs, which will rise from 32 to 36 for each of the three events, and a new 'league' format in which each team will play eight matches (four at home…
