Bundesliga: referee equipped with an ear-mounted camera during Eintracht Frankfurt - VfL Wolfsburg

German referee Daniel Schlager wore an ear-mounted camera during the Eintracht Frankfurt - VfL Wolfsburg game (2-2), on Matchday 23 of the 2023-24 Bundesliga, on Sunday 25/02/2024 (kick-off 15:30 CET). This is a first for a match in the German top flight.

The footage was not broadcast live and was not available as part of match highlights. However, "the recorded material will be used for a half-hour report entitled 'Referees Mic'd up - Bundesliga', which the DFL will produce and make available to its national and international media partners for broadcast from 12/03/2024" explained the Deutsche Fußball Liga on 24/02/2024. The use of this camera was approved by the IFAB "in close coordination between the DFB, the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga, the referees and the clubs involved."

Referee Daniel Schlager was previously equipped with such a camera for the match between DSC Arminia Bielefeld and TSV 1860 München (2-0), on Matchday 19 of the 3.Liga, on Sunday 17/12/2023.
