LFP: McDonald's (fast food), a candidate to replace Uber Eats as title sponsor of Ligue 1 (press)

American fast-food chain McDonald’s is set to take over from the food delivery application Uber Eats as title sponsor of Ligue 1, according to information from RMC Sport on 05/03/2024. The French championship would thus take the name "McDonald's Ligue 1" for three seasons (2024-2027).

The agreement would be worth a total of €60m, or €20m per season, compared with the €16m paid each year by Uber over the 2021-2024 cycle to lend its name to the Ligue 1 Uber Eats. The app itself had succeeded French group Conforama, title partner of the "Ligue 1 Conforama" over the 2017-2020 cycle for €7m per season. The sum received by the Ligue de Football Professionnel for the naming rights to the competition could therefore have almost tripled in the space of seven years.

McDonald's is already present in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats via sponsorship agreements with Olympique Lyonnais (official supplier, 2015-2024) and Paris Saint-Germain (official partner, since 2010).
