The paint work on the exterior façade of the Civitas Metropolitano (Madrid, ESP) home of Club Atlético de Madrid (LALIGA EA Sports) will make it possible to absorb 4.1 tonnes of CO2 every day, according to the club on 06/03/2024.

The renovation work will cover a surface area of 70,000 m2, which will be coated with 12,000 litres of paint supplied by the Spanish company Graphenstone.

"Thanks to Graphenstone's innovative technology, we will be helping to improve the air quality around the stadium. The lime-based coatings and graphene fibres used will absorb 4,100 kg of CO2 during their drying process, the same amount as a forest of 70,000 trees in one day, making our stadium the most sustainable in Europe," explained the Madrid club.
